Join us for our annual Pride Shabbat service to kick off Pride month here in the Bay Area. Services will include liturgical additions, musical celebration, and special readings for Pride. Our keynote speaker this year will be Rodef Sholom member and activist Melanie Nathan.
Melanie Nathan was raised in South Africa, where she practiced law during the apartheid era. After immigrating to the United States, she became a mediator and an equality and human rights adovcate. She is the Executive Director of the African Human Rights Coalition, which provides safe shelter, humanitarian assistance and advocacy for LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees from Africa. She also directs the Peacemaker Museum, a joint Nobel Peace Prize and SAGCE educational program. She currently serves as the SF Pride Board Vice President. The Marin County Rights Commission awarded Melanie the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award in 2016.
