Make a difference and give back this holiday season!
If you have abundance, give alms accordingly to match;
if you have but a little, fear not to give accordingly. ~ Tobit 4:8
Provide food for Christmas dinner at Homeward Bound - December 25
Each year, Rodef Sholom hosts a Christmas dinner for 80 homeless adults at the Homeward Bound New Beginnings Shelter in Novato, and we need your help to make sure everyone leaves with a full belly. Make their holidays a little brighter by volunteering to provide a turkey, turkey, stuffing, salad, rolls, cranberry sauce, dessert, and other dishes for this special dinner. Provide one item or several!
In the Bin (look for the barrels in our lobby!)
We are collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed by San Rafael Santa Cops to kids in need during the holiday season. We are also collecting warm jackets, raincoats and sleeping bags for the unsheltered in the community which will be distributed by the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room.
Wrap or deliver presents for San Rafael Santa Cops
The San Rafael Santa Cops appreciate volunteers of all skill levels who will wrap or deliver presents. This agency is supported by our San Rafael Police and Fire Departments who collect and distribute toys to San Rafael families in need. Volunteers are needed to sort and wrap presents (December 12 at the San Rafael Armory); also needed are volunteers willing to deliver presents directly to the families receiving them. For more information or to get involved, email [email protected] or call 415.456.2685.
Pantry overflowing? Donate some food!
We will be collecting canned and packaged foods for JFCS Food Pantry and the Marin Food Bank. The need is greater than ever. Items can be dropped off in the synagogue lobby (look for the marked bins). Holiday-specific food items would be greatly appreciated.
Prepare and serve lunch at the St. Vincent de Paul Free Dining Room
The St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room serves over 300 meals a day to Marin residents and they always in need of volunteers (age 16 and up). Help feed those who are hungry in Marin. Contact them at [email protected] or call 415.454.3303x18.
Participate in Rodef Sholom's Meals for the Homeless Program

To volunteer, contact congregants Rachel Mercer ([email protected]), Debra Thal ([email protected]) or Susan Machtinger ([email protected]).
Deliver meals/challah for Rodef Sholom's Mitzvah Kitchen program
Each week, congregant Chef Jeff Kirshbaum and his volunteer kitchen crew bake over 40 challot and cook full meals for congregants in need. Join our team of volunteer drivers who deliver these meals and challot to congregants by contacting Molly at [email protected].
