"The New Colossus": Music of the Jewish Immigrant Experience - a special concert program

Emma Lazarus' 1883 sonnet, "The New Colossus," inscribed on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, has served as a beacon of welcome and hope to generations of immigrants who came to our shores seeking refuge and freedom. In this musical celebration of our rich Jewish musical heritage from artists who were immigrants and refugees we will revel in chamber music, songs, liturgical settings, and works for Yiddish teater created by composers such as Bela Bartok, Ernest Bloch, Kurt Weill, Sholom Secunda, Irving Berlin, Miguel del Aguila, and Regina Spektor.
