Rodef Sholom 6th and 7th graders can choose one of two options to continue their learning together in our Gesher program. Gesher enables our students to continue to deepen relationships with each other as they journey with their classmates through middle school and the b’nai mitzvah experience.
WEDNESDAy Gesher (3:45 - 5:45 pm)
Wednesday Gesher is a time on Wednesday afternoons for our students to study Torah together, to discuss and struggle with the meanings of our text, and to learn Jewish values from these teachings. Our students continue to learn the history of the Jewish people, and have opportunities to celebrate the holidays together as well. Ultimately, our students learn valuable lessons from their history that teaches character traits that enhance their Jewish soul.
Gesher Shabbat engages students and parents on Saturday mornings to learn and grow together. Families study Torah, discuss and learn prayers, and get to know other families and students who are on the same journey. After learning sessions with one of the Rodef Sholom clergy, families attend Shabbat services together in the Sanctuary. When possible, as a convenience for our families, we also offer a religious school class for younger siblings to learn at the same time.

B’nai Mitzvah Retreat
We have found that when you take kids and parents out of their regular environment, you can create space to experience the holy. That’s what the B’nai Mitzvah Retreat is about – allowing families to reflect and prepare for the profound lifecycle moment that is a child’s bar or bat mitzvah. You will also get an opportunity to meet other families going through the same transition while learning and praying together.
