Welcome to Hebrew Classes at Rodef Sholom!
Classes Begin in May 2025

We’re excited to offer two new Conversational Hebrew classes beginning this May or June—one for beginners and one for intermediate learners. Taught by experienced educator and Rodef Sholom congregant Erellah Katz, both classes will use the proven Ulpan method, a dynamic approach developed in Israel that emphasizes spoken Hebrew. Erellah brings years of experience from NYC Ulpan programs and a deep passion for teaching Hebrew in a warm, engaging environment.
While the focus will be on conversation, reading and writing will be included as supportive tools to reinforce learning. Reading Hebrew is required for the intermediate class and strongly encouraged for beginners. For those who need extra support, separate reading tutoring will be available.
Each class will meet weekly for 90 minutes (day and time to be determined in collaboration with participants).

Adult Hebrew, Spring 2025
Mondays, 7-8pm by Zoom
March 10, 2025- May 5, 2025 (no class 4/14)
Teacher: Alona Rafael
Deepen your Hebrew knowledge! Designed for those who can sight-read Hebrew letters and vowels, this course will continue developing the building blocks of Hebrew grammar and vocabulary. The focus for this session will be on Jewish songs and prayers. Build your confidence and the skills towards full participation in services.
The class fee is $175

About the Instructor
Alona Rafael has been a Hebrew School instructor and B’nai Mitzvah tutor for over 20 years. She is a native Israeli and is passionate about sharing the language of her homeland with others!

Are you curious about learning Hebrew and want to get started? In a friendly and supportive learning environment, we begin with the basics of the Hebrew alphabet and over the course of 12 weeks, work towards a reading-level understanding of our prayer book. Students will learn to decipher some Hebrew roots and deepen their knowledge of prayers.
The class fee is $250.
