In 1938-39, Dr. Feng Shan Ho, a Chinese diplomat posted in Vienna, saved thousands of Austrian Jews from the peril of Nazi Germany by issuing visas for them to travel to Shanghai.

"The New Colossus": Music of the Jewish Immigrant Experience - a special concert program

Emma Lazarus' 1883 sonnet, "The New Colossus," inscribed on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, has served as a beacon of welcome and hope to generations of immigrants who came to our shores seeking refuge and freedom. In this musical celebration of our rich Jewish musical heritage from artists who were immigrants and refugees we will revel in chamber music, songs, liturgical settings, and works for Yiddish teater created by composers such as Bela Bartok, Ernest Bloch, Kurt Weill, Sholom Secunda, Irving Berlin, Miguel del Aguila, and Regina Spektor.

Refugee Advocacy Shabbat

In April, Rabbi Stacy Friedman, along with a group of Jewish and Muslim leaders, traveled to Greece to listen, learn and bear witness to the refugee crisis. Join us for this Shabbat service in which Rabbi Stacy will share with us the stories, impressions and lessons she took home with her.

Building Compassionate Community: a Not in Our Town event

Join Not in Our Town Executive Producer Patrice O'Neill, along with local leaders and partner organizations from across Marin County for a film screening and introduction to Not in Our Town, a nation-wide movement to stop hate and build safe, inclusive communities for all that thrive on supportive and loving networks of connection. This program will be an inspiring show of solidarity and commitment to further deepening our resolve and mechanisms for standing with one another throughout Marin County. Invite your friends and neighbors - everyone is welcome!

Join us for our Pride Shabbat - a celebration of LGBTQ Jews, friends, allies and their families. Services will include liturgical additions, musical celebration, special readings for Pride and speakers from our Rodef Sholom community. Everyone is welcome at this importnat Shabbat where we celebrate our shared commitment to justice and community!
