Important Rally for Hugo Mejia

Fri, 11/17/2017 - 1:45pm -- judyzimola

Dear Hugo's Community of Supporters,

As the date of Hugo's bond hearing nears, we wanted to share our next steps with you all and where we'd love your support.  First, thank you all for the tremendous support with the petition and with the letters to the judge.  Hugo's attorney was overwhelmed by the number submitted and feels grateful for this amazing community. She is compiling these letters now and they will be submitted to the judge for review shortly.

Show up to rally Tuesday morning:  We are looking for as many people to show up in front of the ICE building in San Francisco as possible on Tuesday morning.  There will be a rally from 8:30am to approximately 10am to show our solidarity and unwavering support.  A small group will go up to the courtroom right around 8:30am as these courtrooms are very, very small, but we want the attorney to be able to clearly share that there are dozens, if not hundreds of people standing in solidarity with Hugo outside of the building (and you will be heard from inside the courtroom). The rally outside will be lead by California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance and will be a beautiful way for the judge to clearly hear (and hopefully see) our community support and solidarity.  Media will be on site.

When: Tuesday, November 21st at 8:30am
Why: Community support for Hugo will be a critical component of Hugo's hearing.  Come and let your support be seen & heard.  Bring friends!
Parking: Portsmouth Square underground garage (733 Kearny Street); has been recommended as the cheapest option, and just a couple of blocks away from 630 Sansome.
Notes: Dress for cold weather with comfortable shoes.

Thank you, all.  We look forward to seeing you Tuesday morning and sharing the outcome of the hearing shortly thereafter.

Let's have Hugo home for Thanksgiving dinner with his family!

In solidarity,

The Venetia Valley Family Center
